The Myomo e100 NeuroRobotic System is a novel EMG-controlled portable, exoskeletal robotic brace for the elbow. The device is designed to facilitate and improve mobility of hemiparetic upper limbs impaired by stroke. No electrical stimulation or invasive procedures are required.

Myomo's therapeutic modality is uniquely designed to sense and use data from a patient's electrical muscle activity signal (EMG) to automatically apply a proportional assistive force to facilitate arm movement. Through Myomo's advanced NeuroRobotics technology, the device enables a feedback-based, closed loop system that both amplifies and rewards a patient with motion in concert with his or her own muscular activation. The device is also designed to facilitate highly repetitive exercise training, which has been demonstrated to enhance motor recovery.

The Myomo e100 NeuroRobotic System is designed to seamlessly integrate into the existing therapy framework. The device has shown clinically meaningful results with severe chronic stroke patients, 1.5-to-10 years post CVA. (Stein J., Narendran K., McBean J., Krebs K., Hughes, R. Electromyography-Controlled Exoskeletal Upper-Limb-Powered Orthosis for Exercise Training after Stroke. Am. J. Phys. Med. Rehabil. Vol. 86. No. 4. 2007)

"The Myomo device provides an opportunity for patients to be able to become more independent. The sophistication of its electronics picks up early muscle movements and allows patients to activate muscles to become more functional faster. From a clinical perspective, it is compact and relatively easy to use, eliminating the costs and complexity associated with traditional equipment."
