Myomo, Inc.
Myomo®, Inc. is a medical technology company leading the way in extending Myoelectric Prosthetic Technology to powered bracing devices that restore an individual’s mobility. The Myomo technology was originally developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in collaboration with medical experts affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
Our mission is to improve mobility and restore independence for individuals who suffer from debilitating muscle weakness due to conditions such as stroke and other neuro-muscular conditions. The Myomo Mobility System is designed to enable individuals to self-initiate and control movement of partially paralyzed limbs using their own muscle signals.
With the Myomo mPower 1000 System, we help people regain voluntary movement of their arm. The Myomo Myoelectric Platform Technology is the foundation for the development of future Myomo devices that will help in the mobility for other affected areas such as the hand wrist, knee and ankle.
The mPower 1000
The Myomo™ mPower 1000 is a portable, lightweight functional arm brace that restores movement to a weakened arm as a result of neuromuscular damage. The product incorporates a noninvasive myoelectric platform technology in a wearable device that enables a person to initiate-and-control their own motion. The portable arm brace has been proven effective facilitating functional repetitive task practices during therapy. The mPower 1000 technology does not use electrical impulses or stimulation. It reads weak muscle signals and sends it to the device’s signal processor which allows a person to move their affected arm.
The mPower 1000 is available with a prescription from a Myomo certified clinician. It may be reimbursed depending on medical necessity and individual's insurance coverage.
