Simple Relaxation Techniques When Using Myomo Neuro Robotic Device
Trying to perform volitional relaxation exercises may be difficult. Even when using the Myomo device, you have to give yourself plenty of time and practice to relax your mind and muscle. Below are some relaxation techniques that may be helpful to relax while still actively engaging in the exercise.
1) Guided Imagery/Visualization – Imagine yourself in a calm and peaceful place or situation and try to incorporate as many senses as you can. For instance, if you find lying on the beach peaceful, then imagine hearing the ocean, smelling the fresh air, and touching the sand along your skin.
2) Deep breaths – Don’t forget to breath. Taking slow and regular deep breaths allows for more oxygen to enter your body as you inhale and release the toxins as you exhale. So imagine and practice smelling the roses and blowing out the candles.
3) Sensory – Incorporate various sensations with sound, smell, and touch such as listening to calming music, smelling something sweet, or touching something soothing.
4) Meditation – Think of a word or phrase that calms you. Or imagine completely letting yourself go from things that weigh your thoughts down.
5) Autogenic – Visualize and verbalize your limbs
